About

Hey — I’m Bilal. I’m based in Hamburg, Germany.

I’ve been writing software professionally since 2012 — started with game dev in C++, now mostly Go. These days I’m at FINEXITY where I do a bit of everything — breaking apart monoliths, building payment integrations, wrangling Terraform, and trying to keep CI/CD pipelines from catching fire.

Before that I was at Herewith building real-time communication platforms and healthcare tools. And before that, I worked on autonomous parking at Bosch and AR stuff at Fraunhofer — a different life, honestly.

I write idiomatic Go — stdlib over dependencies, no unnecessary abstractions. I build 12-factor apps and keep things simple. SOLID, KISS, DRY aren’t buzzwords to me, they’re how I actually write code.

I moved to Germany from Pakistan in 2015 for my master’s in Stuttgart, and ended up staying. Hamburg has been home since 2019. I sometimes write about the expat experience here, alongside the usual tech things.

I’m open to new opportunities — in Germany or remote.

Best way to reach me is LinkedIn or GitHub.
